Ruddr does not have native support for QuickBooks Online (QBO) sub-customers. But, QBO provides a simple method for converting sub-customers to QBO Projects. Ruddr's integration with QBO has native support for QBO projects and it is recommended that Ruddr customers migrate to QBO projects.
In order to leverage QBO projects, you must be using one of the following editions of QuickBooks Online:
- QuickBooks Online Plus
- QuickBooks Online Advanced
- QuickBooks Online Accountant
Lower versions of QBO, including Simple Start and Essentials, do not support projects.
Converting from QBO Sub-Customers to QBO Projects
To convert QBO sub-customers into QBO projects, follow these steps:
- Turn on the Projects feature within QBO.
- Go to Projects in QBO and check each sub-customer's status. If the status is Not started, select In progress from the Status dropdown.
- Edit the sub-customer's profile and make sure the Is a sub-customer option is checked.
- Ensure that the correct parent customer is selected.
- Make sure the sub-customer is connected to only one parent customer. It can't be a sub-customer of a sub-customer.
- You can either create a new project from a sub-customer or merge the sub-customer with an existing project. When you create a new project from a sub-customer, your sub-customer's existing transactions won't transfer over. But, when you merge a sub-customer with an existing project, your existing sub-customer transactions migrate to that project.
