There are two ways to create a new client in Ruddr. The first is by clicking on the Create a Client button on the client list screen (Figure 1). You will only see this button if you have the Create client permission set on your assigned security role.
Figure 1 - Client List Screen
When you create a client, a drawer (Figure 2) will slide out that will allow you to provide the following information about the client.
- Name - The name of the client. Note that Ruddr will not prevent you from creating two or more clients with the same name. However, Ruddr will provide you with a warning that a client with that name already exists.
- Industry - Select an industry / vertical to associate with the client.
- Practice - The practice that owns the client relationship.
- Relationship Owner - The workspace member who is responsible for the client relationship.
- Client Code - Any internal client identifier that your team may use for the client. This code is searchable from the Header Bar.
- Client Tags - Custom tags that be attributed to the client. These tags are unique to your workspace and can be managed in the Custom Data settings in Ruddr.
- Notes - Any information about the client that would be helpful for the project team.
- Cloud Folder - Assign a shared cloud folder to the client to provide team members with access to view files.
- Client Roles and Rates - The Roles tab (Figure 2) allows you to provide a client-specific "rate card" that can be inherited by all of the projects under this client. For more on this, please see the Client Roles article in the Ruddr Help Center.

Invoice Details
When creating a client, you can set up the default invoice information (Figure 3) for any invoices that get created for the client. The fields that can be set are:
-
- Invoice To Addresses - The default email addresses that should receive invoice emails. This can be a list of multiple emails delimited by comma, semi-colon, or space.
- Invoice Cc Addresses - The default email addresses that should be copied on invoice emails. This can be a list of multiple emails delimited by comma, semi-colon, or space.
- Invoice Street Address - The default street address to show on invoices.
- Payment Terms - Payment terms can range from Due on receipt up to Net-90.
- Tax Rate - Apply a Tax Rate as defined in Custom Data.
- Taxable Items - Specify if Services, Expenses, and/or Other Items to Bill should be taxable.
- Invoice Note - Include a specific note that you wish to appear on invoices for this client.
The latter four fields are provided as default values in the workspace, which are managed in workspace settings. If you want to differentiate any of the fields on the client, you can uncheck the Use workspace invoice details checkbox (Figure 3) and provide client-specific values that will be leveraged when invoices for this client are created.
Note that when creating invoices for an individual project, the project's invoices settings are used. These settings can be inherited from the client, but can also be customized for that specific project. If an invoice is generated for more than one project for the same client, the client's invoice settings are used.

Multicurrency
Workspaces that leverage Ruddr's Multicurrency feature will have options to associate a currency with the client. For more on assigning a currency to a client, please refer to the Client Currency article in the Ruddr Help Center.
Client Roles and Rates
Workspaces that leverage the Workspace and Client Rate Cards feature can also create roles and corresponding rates at a client level. For more on this, please visit the Client Roles article in the Ruddr Help Center.
The other way to create a new client is directly from the new project window (Figure 4). You can only create a new project if you have the Create project permission set on your security profile. You can pick an existing client or type in a new client if you have the Create client permission. To create a new client you simply click the + Add a New Client button and supply the new client name.
Figure 4 - Create a New Client from the New Project Screen
When a new client is created from the new project screen, the only field that gets set for the client is the client name. You likely will want to edit that client from the clients list screen and provide the additional data for the client record.
