Once a draft invoice has been reviewed for accuracy, it is ready to be published. An invoice can be published from the invoices list screen or from the draft invoice itself. In order to publish an invoice, you must have client-level Publish invoices and record payments permissions on your security role. To publish an invoice, simply click on the Publish option from the invoice action menu (Figure 1).
Figure 1 - From the Invoices List, you can Publish an Invoice from the Action Menu
When the publish option is selected, you will be shown a confirmation window (Figure 2). If there are any unapproved time entries or expense items related to the invoice, the confirmation window will explain that those items will be approved as a part of the publishing process. Ruddr does not allow a published invoice to include unapproved time or expense entries.

When an invoice is published, it can no longer be edited within Ruddr in any way. The only way to change a published invoice is to unpublish it first. Also, the time entries, expense items, fixed fee milestones, and other items associated with a published invoice will be locked for all workspace members. This means that no member, regardless of security role, will be able to change the these items once they are on a published invoice.
Note that for fixed fee projects, no time entries get locked when an invoice is published. This is because time entries for fixed fee projects are not directly associated with an invoice.
